About Summit ElderCare :

Fallon Health operates the largest Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in New England and the fifth largest in the country. Called Summit ElderCare, Fallon’s PACE helps provide older adults and their caregivers with a welcome alternative to nursing home care. Participants in Summit ElderCare have access to comprehensive medical services and social support at a Summit ElderCare site while they keep the independence of living in their own homes and communities.

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Trainer is a member of the Summit ElderCare Operations team and will act as a resource to and provide guidance and education to Summit ElderCare clinical and non-clinical staff as it relates to the effective use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR), currently Nextgen. The EHR Trainer will travel to and from the various SE sites to deliver in-person trainings, whether in a group setting or one on one. The EHR Trainer works collaboratively with the EHR Service Delivery team as well as the SE Operations team to ensure that training materials, training plans, and training delivery methods meet the needs of a diverse group of adult learners. The EHR Trainer will oversee the successful planning, set-up, and delivery of on-site training including problem solving issues with training delivery and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and completion of training of new clinical and operational staff on the EHR and practice management system (includes providers, nurses, medical assistants, interdisciplinary team members, and support staff)

  • Serves as an ongoing resource to PACE center staff in using the EHR

  • Assists in the evaluation, testing, and implementation of new templates

  • Administers pre-tests and post-tests to assess the effectiveness of training sessions as well as employee competency

  • Coordinates and conducts ongoing and refresher trainings with SE clinical and non-clinical staff and managers to insure competency in using the EHR.

  • Assists in the development of discipline-specific teaching outlines and reference tools and determines instructional design methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, webinars, conference meetings and workshops.

  • Assists in the development of teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration modes, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, and reference works, as needed.

  • Listens and communicates with others in a professional and respectful manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.

  • Confers with management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to understand the training needs of diverse cohorts of learners.

  • Acts as a resource for ongoing training to SE clinical and non-clinical staff and managers.

  • Makes suggestions on improving procedures and workflows based on feedback from learners.

  • Supports the organization's mission, vision and values, as well as the direction of the EHR.

  • Maintains professionalism in all written and oral communications, as well as personal appearance.

  • Maintains tracking of course registration, completion, and no-shows.

  • Performs other duties as required and as assigned by his/her direct supervisor and other senior leadership staff.

  • Create, update, and enhance EHR and business system training documentation including: Manuals, outlines, curricula, training scripts, objectives, handouts, quick reference guides, tests, proficiency assessments, lab scenarios and post-training support materials and evaluations. Identify and develop curriculum, resources and training modules specific to discipline-specific needs and program-wide goals

  • Assess, establish and evaluate training needs of users by working collaboratively with other FH departments including Claims, Care Services, Compliance, IT and others, as applicable

  • Partner with SE managers to ensure training goals are met (i.e., orientation, in services, competency monitoring)

  • Partner with SE managers to ensure planning and implementation opportunities including regular user training

  • Deliver all training/educational activities (some activities may be delegated with approval of the Senior Director, Regional Operations)

  • Understand and consider differences in cultural sensitivities and relative experience levels of staff when planning training sessions/modules and anticipate the impact upon implementation. Modify as appropriate and necessary

  • Facilitates and leads training sessions, meetings and workgroups

  • Participate in organizational program development committees

  • Ensure compliance with PACE, state, local and federal rules, regulations and laws applicable to their operation

  • Maintain excellent documentation and communication of progress on all projects

  • Stay connected in the learning and development community/network to ensure the most appropriate training methods and delivery models are employed

  • Continuously assess and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the teaching

  • Understand the philosophy of customer service and take initiative to satisfy internal and external customers

  • Share and collaborate with other departments to fulfill FH missio

  • All other reasonably related jobs as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (coursework related to education, training or related field strongly preferred

  • Epic or Similar EHR Certification is desirable

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Education or Healthcare preferred. Education and relevant experience may be combined to meet minimum requirement.

  • Two years’ experience with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system such as NextGen or EPIC required.

  • Minimum three years’ experience developing training curriculum and providing training in a health care setting to employees of varying skill and educational level, preferred.

  • Strong ability to convey information in a manner that is understandable and easily applied by learners

  • Excellent organizational skills, follow through and curriculum development capability.

  • Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills both oral and in writing as well as listening.

  • The successful candidate must present a professional image, be diplomatic, have excellent listening skills, a positive approach, be a problem solver, a self-starter, and results oriented.
