Brief Summary of Purpose:

Ideal candidate will leverage their considerable skillset and experience to strengthen Fallon Health’s approach to market analysis and insight generation; informing corporate strategies and expansion efforts and optimizing how we conduct and deliver reporting.

Consults, designs and produces insights, data-driven exhibits and analyses (business, market, location, survey, etc.) using health care information and supporting datasets to help support decision making at the interdepartmental and Senior leadership levels. Supports external reporting entities such as the Massachusetts Division of Insurance, Mass Health, Centers of Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS) NCQA, etc.

Conducts geo analysis utilizing provider and member datasets to determine network adequacy and to help satisfy provider availability requirements. Prepares final output for both internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.

Participates in multiple strategic projects from start to finish (including methodology design, detailed documentation, analysis, identification and the delivery of key findings, collaboration with other areas as well as use of innovative and creative means to accomplish project goals).


Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepares comprehensive data analysis and delivers key insights using information from various sources, including internal data (surveys, Enterprise Data Warehouse) and outside data from vendors or purchased data in an accurate and timely fashion for internal and external customers.

  • Uses querying and programming skills to develop production and ad hoc reports and exhibits using both small and very large data sets. Reviews all deliverables for internal consistency, efficiency and reasonableness.

  • Gains in-depth knowledge of the content and strengths of relevant Fallon Health databases and the use of such company and survey databases to develop key insights. Must be able to review logic, criteria and definitions to incorporate into data models to extract functional data sets for reporting and analysis.

  • Contributes to organizational goals by gathering and analyzing data, preparing and delivering analytical reports, introducing process improvements throughout the reporting process and highlighting opportunities for business improvements.

  • Independently consults with data users, develops programs and analyses and runs reports as well as presents findings. Responsible for independently producing important internal and external reports and exhibits to regulators and customers. Responsible for identifying data quality issues.

  • Develops presentations that are timely and concise; ensuring that materials are accurate and up to date.

  • Works with Project teams to provide deep dive gap analysis, insight and reporting for Fallon Health market expansion projects. Supports expansion at the level of service area, line of business product and member segmentation.

  • Establishes and maintains positive, collaborative relationships with key internal and external partners, including Customer Service Outreach, Finance, Network Development, Product Development, health plan and/or market research associations. Consults with customers so as to actively engage them in defining their requests to minimize rework. Works collaboratively with peers and assists with areas of expertise. Provides assistance on technical matters and acts as a significant information resource.

  • Serve as Fallon Health Market Research representative on committees and meetings as needed



BS/BA with coursework in computer programming/business, accounting, finance, economics or market research or equivalent experience




  • 5 years of experience in an analytics, geo analysis, data visualization or market research role, health care related fields a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of health care data and concepts experience with healthcare information technology also a plus.

  • Analytical skills that allow for the development of data-driven reports and a drive to deliver actionable insights and results in a timely fashion, with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly across business lines and to present on findings to team members and executives. Should have proven ability to perform intermediate-advanced programming, program design and use of tables, queries, forms, reports, and macros. Ability to produce graphics and well-designed reports.

  • MS Office and other tools: intermediate-advanced skills required (Outlook, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)).

  • Experience with mapping, analytical tools and geo analysis software is a strongly preferred (specifically either Alteryx or Quest Analytics Suite).

  • Must exhibit a willingness to learn new software, programming languages and other skills.

  • Ability to analyze and leverage large data sets as well as other disparate datasets and databases.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, analytical and report writing skills. Excellent and effective communication, both verbal and written; Proven ability to learn and adapt to change quickly and easily; Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Must be highly self-motivated with history of taking initiative

  • General knowledge of business operations, objectives, strategies, process and information flow.
