The position will be accountable for defining and setting the technology vision for designated business domains within Fallon Community Health Plan. Reporting to the Vice President of Portfolio Architecture and Governance, this role will engage both senior leaders and individual contributors within the organization to understand the business strategy and determine what technology plan needs to be in place in support of the business strategy. The Senior Solution Architect will collaborate heavily with their business partners to understand the business areas’ current capabilities and future capabilities that they want to enable. He/She will need to be able to provide guidance to the business and offer solutions that may be business process changes that do not require technology enhancements, solutions that are tactical and minimally enhance the existing systems, or solutions that are strategic and require larger projects/programs.
The Senior Solution Architect will be considered the architect lead for Fallon’s servicing value chain. This will encompass the business processes of care services, customer service and claims adjudication. He/She will establish the domain technology strategy and ensure existing and future projects align to the overall business strategy. As projects and solutions are identified, the Enterprise Architect will be defining the solution architecture visions and the specific architecture design that will be implemented by technology project.
Fallon is a roll up your sleeves organization and this individual will operate at several levels within the organization. One will be at the business strategic level, working with department heads to understand their need. The other end will be working with technical development teams and translate the specific solution architecture that is to be developed. This individual will cover multiple projects at a single time and will be required to ensure each architecture solution implemented transitions Fallon towards its desired mature state.
Ability to function well in fast-paced work environment and the ability to work on multiple time-sensitive projects concurrently are critical. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as detailed-oriented organizational skills are also required.
Work across business and IT teams to understand the current business and system capabilities and determine the desired state to define the overall technology strategy roadmap
Provide business solutions that can be either business process enhancement recommendations or new technology solutions
Collaborate with other architects and business areas to reduce technology and solution redundancy
Drive the technology maturity for Fallon and partner with the development teams
Facilitate POCs/POTs (proof of concept/proof of technology) exercises to demonstrate solution feasibility in order to refine the system solution when required
Participate in technology/vendor evaluations and ensure proper alignment with the business needs and overall technology strategy plans
Define the solution architecture visions for designated components that describe the long term goals as well as near term goals
Author the project architecture design documents that will drive the technical implementation of the solutions
Review of business requirements and design/definition of sequence diagrams, component diagrams and data flows to ensure for proper architecture design
Assist in the planning of work streams and tasks as defined by the solution architecture. Be able to identify specific work components and interdependencies that can be communicated to the project manager and development team
Develop and collaborate in the delivery of cost/benefit estimates
Govern project solution architectures to ensure technology strategy is being driven forward
Collaborate and provide solution ideas/input into other projects and efforts when not assigned as the primary architect
Mentor existing developers, business analysts and project managers in the defining of the architects responsibility within the SDLC
Standardize and govern the architecture review process andarchitecture artifacts for the organization.
12+ years of solution implementation experience with vendor packages or custom solutions
5+ years working within an architect role capacity
3+ years defining business technology strategies and roadmaps
Broad experience in providing solutions across both transactional and analytical solutions
Strong experience translating business needs into technology solution visions
Strong experience in communicating technology visions to senior business management
Experience within the healthcare payer industry preferred
Experience with claims adjudication platforms a plus
Experience with care management platforms a plus
Experience with call center solutions a plus
Thorough understanding of analysis and design practices, application architecture principles and methodologies, object oriented concepts and SOA
Experience working directly with business resources in facilitation of business decisions as they relate to technology solutions and plans
