Brief Summary of Purpose :

The Windows System Engineer II will be responsible for all aspects of the engineering, administration and support of over 350+ Servers in the Enterprise. This includes Active directory, VM, Citrix, SQL, Sharepoint, Exchange and other critical systems for the health plans user population.


Job Responsibilities :

  • Project Management application on a per implementation basis, including proposal, implementation, pilot, user testing and support

  • Performs engineering and administration tasks as needed to the Windows-based servers and VMWare hosts.

  • Supports Active Directory, Exchange 2003/2010, IIS and VMWARE environments

  • Provides and maintains written and graphical server documentation for system recovery and support

  • Uses best practices to design, build, and manage secure server configurations.

  • Influences ongoing desktop and server quality and performance improvements.

  • Maintains a detailed inventory of Server/Hardware and software.

  • Builds and maintains corporate desktop gold images in a Vm for physical state.

  • Triages and resolves trouble calls and updates Help Desk information.

  • Escalates problems to next level of support or vendor.

  • Perform troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair/fixes for servers, peripheral equipment including printers and LAN hardware.

  • Installs and configures networked servers, PCs, operating systems and application software.

  • Works with network engineer to ensure reliable and efficient client/server application performance.

  • Trains junior staff as requested by management.

  • Works off hours to provide support for moves and changes.

  • Provide clear, helpful and considerate instructions to end-users.

  • Provide routine hardware/software administrative services necessary to maintain optimal operation of systems.

  • Ensures the backup and restoration of critical data.

  • Configures hardware and software to meet operational requirements.

  • Relocate hardware as required by end-users.

  • Develops written instructions and other documentation to assist the end-user in the operation of desktop systems.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.



Minimum of a four year college degree or equivilant work expereince.


MSCE a plus


  • Minimum five plus (5+) years’ experience working with and proven ability to manage Microsoft Windows environments and applications.

  • Experience should include but not be limited to architecture, evaluation, recommendation, installation, and support for the following: Microsoft Active Directory administration is required.

  • IIS, SMTP, Clustering, DNS, DHCP, Horizon VDI, VMWARE, and System Backups and Recovery
